Artisan's Daybook

When I travel to teach, one of the most asked-about objects in my tool kit is my jewelry journal. It is one of my most valuable design, technique and inspiration tools and I love showing it to students. Now I'm showing you how to create it. Not only is it perfect as a jewelry journal but it's an ideal sketchbook, art journal, diary or artist's book. In this course we'll be using an astounding array of different mediums and techniques.  I'll show you how to make the inside of your journal just as interesting and unique as the covers. The color wheel is an invaluable design tool, so you'll learn how to create some easy color wheel pages. We'll also make a handy water color palette that you can add right into your journal, along with a place to keep your brushes and a pencil. I'll show you how to embellish your journal with wire forms that were born from jewelry making. These embellishments can also be easily translated to other projects, including jewelry pieces. This is a big class, loaded with technique.

Skill level: beginner and up.

This is one of the best, meatiest, and most inspiring classes (online and real life) I've ever taken...and I have taken a lot.

Thank you for putting together the DREAM course in my opinion. There are so many workshop/courses out there that have either been misleading, disappointing or I realized the content was beautiful but lacking.... Your course description was like a breath of fresh air, I knew I HAD TO HAVE IT. I think I have taken enough online courses to see you are the real deal and I am very much looking forward to taking another. Thank you for your time and efforts to feel it was important enough to share yourself online.

Lori

I didn’t jump on board at first with your journal class as I’m not a drawer or painter…or didn’t think I was! You’ve opened a whole new world out there for me! Once again, I say “thank you” for yet another wonderful class.  I’m not sure if I’ll ever be able to take a class in person, but I know I will always have your online classes to learn from. THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!!!

Originally from Oregon, with a long stop in Texas, I now live in the wild west of Wyoming where my husband was born and raised. Wyoming has always been home to me and we're lucky to have an amazing, old farmhouse built in 1900, that sits at the foot of the Big Horn Mountains. We are host to deer, pheasant, wild turkeys, bald eagles, great horned owls, moose, osprey and even a bear in our yard. This is the setting for Owl Creek Studio, and the inspiration for much of my work.

Through years of practice in metalsmithing and jewelry making techniques I've developed a unique style of my own. I traveled the country, for years, to feed my love of teaching and discovered a true passion for sharing my knowledge of technique and design. I was one of the first instructors to offer online jewelry making classes and am proud to offer excellent and inspiring creative content, online and in person.
