Altering the Past

Please note: All information in this class is included in my other class Artisan's Daybook.
Do you love beauty and whimsy? Are you crazy about paints, stamps and ephemera? With this fun workshop I'm excited to teach my method of altering antique cabinet cards.  Cabinet cards are a special piece of history. By altering them, I feel that we're honoring those who came before and that their images aren't just wasting away in some dusty bin. I'll show you how to make them vibrant and gorgeous.  Your finished cards can be used in an art journal, artist's book or as a one-of-a-kind, stand alone, piece of artwork. My unique style of collage can be transferred to many different projects.

Skill level: beginner and up.

Altered cabinet cards

Originally from Oregon, with a long stop in Texas, I now live in the wild west of Wyoming where my husband was born and raised. Wyoming has always been home to me and we're lucky to have an amazing, old farmhouse built in 1900, that sits at the foot of the Big Horn Mountains. We are host to deer, pheasant, wild turkeys, bald eagles, great horned owls, moose, osprey and even a bear in our yard. This is the setting for Owl Creek Studio, and the inspiration for much of my work.

Through years of practice in metalsmithing and jewelry making techniques I've developed a unique style of my own. I traveled the country, for years, to feed my love of teaching and discovered a true passion for sharing my knowledge of technique and design. I was one of the first instructors to offer online jewelry making classes and am proud to offer excellent and inspiring creative content, online and in person.
